Deasy Photgraphy

Today I found these artist page called Deasy Photographic by a Padraic and Sonia Deasy. I was very interested in some of there studio work.

They do a lot of family portraits.

Tony Tang is a waterford based photographer who is a studio photographer that works with familys weddings and fashion. The main this i like in his work is his fashion photography. They are much more interesting then the other photography pieces.

Mary Magdalene

 

This weeks brief is on portraiture. We have to take a painting from the art history and recreate it in modern context. For this project iv chosen to do Giovanni Girolamo Savoldo's "Mary Magdalene" and portray her as a homless person because it is  becoming more and more comon in this economy.

 

Final pieces for "Urban Environment Project"

Today is my assesment for the end of this project. I have really enjjoyed it and found the single lens camera and the prcessing methods so interesting. Ill be sad to say good bye to ye :( ..


Anyway these are my final pieces for the project.

Patrick Jolley

Today we went to the Limerick gallery of art to see an exhibition of the late Patrick Jolley. I really liked this exhibition as it was right up my ally with photography and film based entry's. I especially enjoyed his work on the "ice house". He actually froze everything in a room of a house and we saw the photos he had taken. They were really interesting and so different that you would spend ages looking at all the different things in each photograph. I really liked the one with the rocking chair and the baby's cot. I felt like I could actually see people in the house but living a frozen life. I was lovely to see how different a thing looks when something as simple as ice is added, and makes it look so much more interesting!

Banksy

 

My favourite graffiti artist is Banksy. I just think his skill and works are so inspiring that I feel in love with real graffiti and not the tagging that gives graffiti the bad name. He try's to show the world that art is a beautiful thing and that it is much more then a pen and painting.

 

The picture directly below is a copy of one of his works that I found in limerick. Its really humours as it relates to many people in the western world, as MC Donald's is one of the most eaten fast food.( copy of the last image).

 

The other two images are just images that I came a cross and I like how he used the colour with the black and white silluete.

 

 

This weeks project is on the "Urban Environment".

For this I took my dslr out onto the streets of limerick and took pictures of anything that I had interest in. this included a large amount of graffiti and how people leave things around the place.
